This book develops a new philosophy of Israel education. “Person-centered” Israel education is concerned with developing in individual learners the ability to understand and make rational, emotional, and ethical decisions about Israel, and about the challenges Israel regularly faces, whether they be existential, spiritual, democratic, humanitarian, national, etc. Chazan begins by laying out the terms of the conversation then examines the six-pronged theory of “person-centered” Israel education to outline the aims, content, pedagogy, and educators needed to implement this program. Finally, the author meditates on what a transformation from ethnic to ethical education might look like in this context and others.

Gabriele Korge ist gelernte Nachrichtentechnische Assistentin und Soziologin M.A. Ihre Schwerpunkte sind Organisationsentwicklung, Kompetenzmanagement und betriebliche Weiterbildung. Sie ist wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin beim Fraunhofer-Institut für Arbeitswirtschaft und Organisation IAO Stuttgart. Agnes Bauer ist Diplom-Psychologin. Am TransferZentrum für Neurowissenschaften und Lernen der Universität Ulm hat sie über zwölf Jahre zu betrieblichem Lernen und zu Lernen in informellen Kontexten geforscht sowie Lernkonzepte entwickelt und evaluiert. Boka spenner over temaer som profesjonsutvikling, fagutvikling, praksisutvikling og organisasjonsutvikling, og de empiriske artiklene har fokus på å bygge bro mellom teori og praksis for å forstå, utvikle og endre praksis. This open access book offers a comparative study of eight ambitious national reforms that sought to create opportunities for students to gain the necessary breath of skills to thrive in a rapidly changing world. It examines how national governments transform education systems to provide students opportunities to develop such skills. It analyses comprehensive education reforms in Brazil, Finland, Japan, Mexico, Peru, Poland, Portugal and Russia and yields original and important insights on the process of educational change. The analysis of these 21st century skills reforms shows that reformers followed approaches which are based on the five perspectives: cultural, psychological, professional, institutional and political. Most reforms relied on institutional and political perspectives. They highlight the systemic nature of the process of educational change, and the need for alignment and coherence among the various elements of the system in order. They underscore the importance of addressing the interests of various stakeholders of the education system in obtaining the necessary impetus to initiate and sustain change. In contrast, as the book shows, the use of a cultural and psychological frame proved rarer, missing important opportunities to draw on systematic analysis of emerging demands for schools and on cognitive science to inform the changes in the organization of instruction. Drawing on a rich array of sources and evidence the book provides a careful account of how education reform works in practice.
Le trasformazioni della nostra società pongono le professioni educative di fronte all'esigenza di acquisire nuove competenze che permettano di rispondere ai bisogni di una realtà complessa e in costante evoluzione. Per tale ragione il Corso di Laurea in Educatore Professionale in questi ultimi anni ha cambiato e sta cambiando volto, nell'intento di unire armonicamente in sé dimensione teorica e pratica. Il volume cerca appunto di dar conto di tali cambiamenti nel tentativo di fornire una fotografia di questo universo giovanile tramite la discussione dei dati emersi da un questionario e l'analisi di alcune autobiografie scolastiche scritte dagli studenti stessi. Obiettivo della pubblicazione: capire quale sia la realtà dalla quale i nostri iscritti provengono, quale il loro rapporto con la scuola e con i docenti, quali aspettative nutrano nei confronti del mondo accademico e del proprio futuro lavorativo e personale. Il testo si rivolge, dunque, agli insegnanti della scuola secondaria, ai docenti universitari, agli educatori stessi, nonché a tutti coloro che in veste diversa si occupano di adolescenza e di età giovanile.
